Marriage can be an incredible experience; however, it can also be boring at times. This might seem odd, but it’s totally normal! Your marriage is like any other relationship—at times, it’s going to have good periods and bad periods. However, if you find yourself on the brink of divorce because your marriage feels boring, don’t worry! There are plenty of things you can do to liven up your relationship and make it feel exciting again. Here are 5 ways to spice up your marriage when it feels boring.
1) Go on dates
When was the last time you went on a date with your spouse? Remember the anticipation and excitement of waiting for that call or text? How about the thrill of deciding where to go and what you would wear? It may seem like a lot of work. You may not feel like putting in that much effort. But what if we told you that this one date could make or break your marriage? That would be reason enough, right?
2) New hobbies
Find new hobbies that you can share with your spouse. Take a cooking class together, go on a bike ride, explore a museum. Find something you both enjoy and learn together. Go on weekend trips with just the two of you. Plan activities for the evening instead of watching TV or going out to dinner every night. Doing things as a family is also an option if you have children.
3) Touch each other more often
One way to feel more connected with your spouse is by touching each other more often. This can include kissing, holding hands, massages, and cuddling. Couples who touch each other more often are also likely to have a better sex life.
4) Plan fun activities together
Take a dance class together. Not only will you get the benefits of exercise and socializing, but you’ll learn a new skill that can be a lot of fun for date nights.
Start a rock band with friends. Pick an instrument and start jamming! If you don’t know how to play, the internet has plenty of tutorials for beginners. You could also just find someone who’s already playing one of those instruments and see if they want to trade off on songs or if you want to take turns playing solos. You might find that there’s no better way to feel connected than by making music together with another person. To ensure your time is well-spent, pick musicians who are just as dedicated as you are—and make sure they’re not too good so they won’t get frustrated while teaching you the basics.
5) Remind yourselves why you married each other
I married you because I was so drawn to your smile and the way that you always made me feel good about myself. You were my rock and my best friend, which is why I knew that you would be a perfect husband for me. You loved my flaws and insecurities, even though they drove me crazy at times. You always encouraged me to work hard and strive for greatness, because you believed in me more than anyone else ever had.
